Anyone know of a good campground not too far west of Atlanta in the I-20 vicinity? My family is going to meet some friends at the Aquarium in a couple weeks and we want to stay on our side of the city...

Thanks,

I gotta' say that "campground" and "west Atlanta" are not two thoughts that I
would put into the same sentence. I'm pretty sure that there's nothing close in
that would be recommendable. A quick check of Google Maps seems to confirm
that. The closest decent campground that I know of is Stone Mountain - and
that's NE of town. Atlanta's not really an RV friendly city IMO.

Maybe someone else knows of a "hidden gem" out there.

I've stayed at a campground on I-75 south of the airport, I think it was at
exit 224, it was a KOA at one time.

I have stayed at Jones RV Park in Norcross, Ga a few times. North of Atlanta off I-85. Not a bad place. ....EZ on and off of I-85.

Also, you could go to Talladega National Forest in Alabama. Maps show several campgrounds there. Google it.

thanks everyone. I'll check in to a couple of these. Talladega forest is a good bit from Atlanta, something we're trying to avoid since we're coming from Birmingham, which isn't all that far to start with. I'll have to see what I can find. Sorry to all the natives out there, but Atlanta now has one more reason to be one of my least favorite cities ever...

anyone know sweetwatervalleypark.com ?? I've seen the google info and the website, but if anyone has actually been there I'd like to know. seems to be less than an hour outside downtown to the west, so it looks like it would work well.
