I would like to find an alignment shop in the Seattle WA or Victoria BC area that can do a 6 wheel alignment.

I've had a lot of work done at Wingfoot (imagine the Goodyear logo) in Fife, Washington. Rebuilt my front end, installed a Quad bag system and aligned all six wheels on my '74 Canyon Lands. They have the shims in stock for the rear alignment. They also have Jim K's phone number for advice. It can take a while to get it done, depending on the condition of your suspension. My Quad install wound up with new bogie pins, bushings, spindles, bearings, etc., etc. Phone number is

Wow Jess. Sounds like they have a good idea about our rear wheels and how they roll. Thanks for the post.

I agree with Dan, great lead Jess. Been waiting for something close to Portland. Do you mind sharing what it all cost you?

I'm still a bit overwhelmed, but am learning more all the time thanks to the collected wisdom on the list, but I still don't have a clear picture of what to do first. My 76 PB is in pretty good shape, previous two PO's did a lot of work on it, though I haven't done a lot to it since getting it last Dec. Did put front spacers on. Haven't checked body pads yet but from the amount of rattle and road noise I've got them on my list. Other than that it drives OK as far as I can tell (done about 2500 mi since buying it), a little sensitive to ruts, but manageable, though I haven't driven any other GMC's so don't have a good reference point either.

Checked the ride height, and with the probably-not-quite-level parking lot I was in, and with the disclaimer that it was my first attempt (tire pressures were set though), I came up with 7/8" hi on left rear, 1/8" high on right front, and the other diag at about 1/4" hi. That probably explains why my RF carries about 350# more than the LF.

So the main question is, what's next? What do I do first? What should I do before taking it into Fife? Like most of us on the list I suspect, my budget doesn't come close to handling my want list, so I'd like to do things a piece at a time if possible. Just no clue what order to do things in. Don't want to have to re-do things at more expense for having done things out of order. Do have a Quad bag on my list, but it will wait for some time. Also dream of the reaction braking system and Hubler front end, but just can't see how I could afford them any time soon. Oh and tires are 8 yrs old next month so they're first on my list.

Thanks,

J

Jay, this is a real good reason to get together and talk over lunch/dinner
on Tue Oct 26th @ 3:00 PM at T&A Truck stop south of Wilsonville, Or. on
Interstate 5. Mary & I will be there and Mike Miller has said that he plans
to come also. If anyone else in the Great Northwest is interested, don't
wait for an official invitation from the one(s) in charge because no one is
in charge at this point. Just show up, bring your coach if you want to or
drive, walk, fly, bike, crawl, or if the present rain keeps up, swim. The
topic is GMC & Popeye's Chicken or whatever else you can find to eat there.
Again, all are welcome that have an interest in GMC's, even if you don't
have one. The sum of knowledge of many is greater than that of one, besides
there is more people to take the blame if everything goes South at some
point.
