Ken B,
I might come out tomorrow (Wednesday) for some info I'm rebuilding my front end and need some expert opinion on reinforcing the lower A arms. Is there anyone there who has knowledge of the welded reinforcements?
This all started from torn cv boot.

Blaine is your guy. He has many of those A-frames off of Toronados that he welds up and reinforces for GMCs. Also on the CV joints, he is the one that built the replacements up for me a two years ago.
We got 3/4ths of his body isolators in today. 4 more tomorrow and we are done. He had full length rubber strips in his and he wanted them replaced. It was a real pain getting the old full length strips out. We actually used a cable puller like you would use on a chain link fence to get one of them out today.
Working on the 4 post hoist in his "Florida Room" with the motor home in the air made it a lot easier. I sure would have hated to do this on the ground.
Come on over tomorrow. (Wednesday) if you want to true those tires. We have someone coming to true tires on Thursday.
I'll be here.

I drove my car over to Blaine's today it is just 48 miles from my house. WOW does he have an Airplane/GMC/tinkers dreamplace, you need to go for the great hospitality and work environment. I will probably go back over on Saturday. My coach is getting the front suspension rebuilt in my driveway so I will be over there SAt. to learn and help. Go if you can.

Larry,
We appreciate the help with the isolators today. After you left we went to finish up the small stuff. When we started to replace the little piece of Onan gas line and we noticed that the line was rotten all the way back to the tank. So we replaced the entire line from the Onan back to the tank.
While that was going on Diane fixed my furnace that has not worked for 4 years. I have heat tonight in the coach.
The only thing left On that coach of Blaine's is the Ragusa step. With the coach sitting higher on the new isolators I do not like the way the step is rigid mounted to the body and frame. We fashioned some rubber isolators for it but it is still not right so tomorrow we will redesign the shock mounting of the step again.
I'm not sure what else we will do tomorrow. I know one person is coming to true tires. If I have time I'll work on replacing my Onan mounts. I also want to use Blaine's caster/camber gauges some time before I leave here.
Thanks again for the help today.

Ken,
Is Blaine's tire truer from Amermac? Is it an off-vehicle truer? I may
have mentioned a year or so ago that I've been given one of their on-vehicle
truers. I've got Al Samsel's permission to bring it to Bean Station for our
use there. Unfortunately, it's a couple of hundred miles away and we
haven't been that direction since HER cousin offered it to me. The plan now
is to go by there as we return from the GMCDL rally at Lazy Days in Jan.
I've probably mentioned before that Amermac is located 10 miles from here.
And that the original machine concept was drawn in the dirt, with a stick,
in the yard of a local garage. My great uncle, a machinist, built the
prototype from that sketch. The designer sold the rights to Amermac 50+
years ago.

Yes, Blaine's is an off vehicle truer. It is from Americus, Ga. He got some new blades and an arbor from the company in Americus since I last used it. I have never seen one that does it on the coach. I'll want to see yours in action next spring at the Bean Station rally.

I'm not sure how satisfied we'll be with it as-is. I had my front tires
trued about 5 years ago at the only place here still doing it. It would
have been necessary to move the middle and rear tires to the front to true
them because of the height of the machine.
It may be possible to mount it on a pedestal with a spindle for the tire.
When I've got it in hand I'll visit Amermac to have it checked out and
discuss pedestal mounting.

My problem is visualizing what yours looks like. I really need to see it in person or at least a picture to understand how it works.
We are installing a new electric hoist on Blaine's so he does not have to lift the tire / wheels into position on the machine.
