Just installed the Cobra 1575 (1500 W)and it is extremely quiet, Except when the fans come on, OMG, it could wake up the dead.
Totally unacceptable, anyone else with a Inverter that is strong enuf to run a Refrig and a couple other items without a screeching fan noise?
As always, I appreciate your comments and suggestions.

I'm running a Samlex 600 watt sine wave. It is very quiet and I don't hear it even with my aids on, unless I put my ear down on it. It runs my OEM Norcold (60watts) and a nearly new Toshiba slim line digital TV. No info on it about draw but don't see how it could be more than 150 watts. The Samlex has about 0.6 A. draw in idle, which I guess is about normal for sine wave units. My problem is having enough battery to keep it going overnight or more. I could also run a portable computer and some other small things with it, I'm sure. Oh, I also charge my cell phone overnight on it. IIRC,I paid about $200 for it. I'd recommend it over the larger square wave units.

I don't know anything about Samlex's inverters, but their
power supplies (120 VAC to 13 VDC) are VERY good!

My 2000 watt Vector is very quiet. I have a 500 watt one from Sam's Club that I can not use as the fan is so loud.

'Screeching' would be a defect. Do You mean just 'noisy?' Most cooling fans can be upgraded if you are stuck with the unit and the dealer or manufacturer won't help. I have bought many from mouser.com or digikey.com. Most equipment manufacturers use some kind of off the shelf fan. You can pick a more expensive but quieter one online.
We built small, powerful LEDs that were used in very quiet biology labs so they had to be noiseless. It took several tries before we were satisfied.
Mounting counts, too. Even the quietest fan would emit a noisy hum if rigidly mounted, they needed rubber feet. Maybe you could isolate the unit?

Ok Embarassed, it is a medium high pitched sound. Smile
I bought it through Amazon and returning to them is no problem.

This is a very good outfit and have all kinds of inverters at very good prices. A friend says they are very good to talk to when you call them, so they might also know about inverter noise for their units. Of course, noise is very subjective.

Thanks, I have had several people recommend them. I just ordered the Xantrex SW600 from him. He advised it would be more than adequate for my needs and a lot less fan noise.
Will return the Cobra to Amazon.

Received the Xantrex SW600 yesterday, wired it up this morning and it will not start my Refrig. Boy this is getting to be a pain.
Need to find one that will let us sleep and still run the Refrig.
Anyone using the Power Bright 1100 that Dave Martin mentioned?
My budget will not allow Dans 2000W.

Richard, check Harbor Freight. I have one that I got from them. Can not hear the fan run. It is a 700 watt and I paid 50 bux for it. I have noticed some good prices on larger ones and they also have a pure sinewave.

Thanks Dan, 70 won't get it, have ordered a Whistler 2000 from Don
Rowe. This refrig takes 10 Amps at startup.

Ok, let us know how it works. I have one of those little ac meters that I use to see how much appliances draw. I just leave it in the GMC. Kill a Watt, I believe it is called. The 4400 series. Pretty handy little gadget, has memory. Great for setting the ac voltage on the Onan.
