G'day,

I found a Kennedy tool chest that will fit under the rear dinette bench in
Double Trouble, unfortunately it cost $472.00.

Today I won one on eBay for $202.51 (190454692315). The seller wants to
strap it to a pallet and ship it via a freight forwarding company. I got a
quote from them of $267. I ran the weight and dimensions through UPS and
they want $67 to ship it. I've asked the seller to provide a shipping quote
to see what he comes up with. If it is $267 I'll see if he's willing to ship
it via UPS.

If he's not willing is there anyone near this company that would be willing
to pick it up, pack it up and ship it to Texas?

The box can be picked up at:

INDUSTRY RECYCLES
1200 Ogden Rd. Unit #4
Venice, Fl. 34285

Here's details:

KENNEDY 5 DRAWER Mechanics' INTERMEDIATE TOOL Chest
Type: Mechanics' Chest Standard
Number of Drawers: 5
Width (Inch): 27
Depth (Inch): 18
Height (Inch): 16-5/8
Weight (Pounds): 75
Material: Steel
Color: Brown Wrinkle

Regards,
Rob M.

AND QUICKER.

I'm still waiting for an item shipped UPS last Thursday from Florida. It has been 8 days for a package weighing less than 10 pounds. This is the second time they shipped it. The first time UPS returned it because they could not find my address even though the UPS driver usually sits across the street around noon to eat his lunch. I checked with the shipper and the address and zip code he shipped it to was correct.

This whole thing started on September 16th. It is 6 Cisco access points and bridges that I need for an expansion of our airport WiFi network.

Ken, the secret of dealing with UPS is to get the number of the local
supervisor/manager. Then when you see something going wrong (or it
already did go bad) you can ask him if he would like you to drop over to
"discuss" the problem. I have found it works wonders.

I have had so many battles with them over the years that I have given up.
1. A two day delivery package sent to me in France for a medical issue that took me 8 days to find in a city 350 miles away.
2. An overnight package that when located was in another state and they would do nothing about it. It was a part I need for a hospital that had a good part of their network down.
3. Having to chase down a delivery truck that could not find my address three days in a row.
4. An unannounced machine that disappeared two days before I was to present it on announcement day at a business show. It was found almost 3 months later. I could fill up many pages with their screw ups.

On the missing overnight shipment I was standing in the UPS terminal talking to the manager. It did not help. He promised that it would be delivered by 5PM the next day. I needed it bad enough that I hopped in my airplane and flew over the the next state to pick it up myself rather than wait for another day. It was a one of a kind part with a special engineering change applied to it.

Talking to UPS management is a waste of time. All you can get is a refund of your shipping charges if they do not deliver as expected. I have had to buy an airplane seat for an item on several occasions rather than trust UPS would deliver on time.

In Rob's case he probably is not worried about the delivery day. I suggest he is more worried about the cost. That is why we suggest trying other delivery / shipping services.

Many hams have reported excellent service using Greyhound bus.

As long as "reasonable" packing is used, your item is usually simply
carried to the bus on a cart and placed down low in the cargo bins.

The only problem I see is that there is no "front door" delivery and
you have to have a nearby Greyhound stop.

For really good service and very reasonable rates, try the Air
Freight companies. If you're anywhere near a major airport,
they are a super deal. They're phonies, all they have are an
office, a computer and a telephone. BUT, they rent excess
luggage space from the airlines and use package services for
pick-up and delivery. I've shipped engine blocks all over the
country quicker and usually cheaper than truck. Try them.
