Other than two chips my windshields are in good shape with the exception of fogging around the edges.

I've read a couple of suggestions to use heat in an attempt to relaminate the glass/plastic and am wondering if anyone has tried it?

What worked? Was it a heat gun or an iron?

Good luck. We usually just replace them. Of all of the sets my friend has installed, I'll bet only one or two were for breakage. All of the others were for fogging. I can personally only remember one broken one.

Ken,

IIRC there have been a number of threads on the GMCnet that discussed both
the heat gun and iron method produced the same result:

CRACK!

I believe we also batted around the idea of putting a windshield in an oven
and baking it to remove the moisture that caused the fogging. I can't
remember what the result of that discussion was.

IIRC someone noted that if you coat the edge with silicone it will prevent
(slow down?) the ingress of moisture that causes the fogging. Whether that
is correct or not I have no idea!

There was a fellow a while back that got tired of looking at the
fogged edges. He taped back from the edge of the windshield and
painted them over. Didn't lose much of his windshield, looked good,
and he didn't look at fogging anymore. I like this idea if the
windshield is otherwise good. Just a thought.

Gary's idea is a neat one to do as I have seen few.
If you ever decide to change it, we sell them for $575 each delivered.

Both windshields were fogged when i brought it home, but had to work on the brakes first. Lifted the coach behind the RF wheel...worked on things, let it down to go to the other side and found the DS windshield cracked. Just lifting it wrong cracked it. Called my insurance agent (State Farm) and got both replaced on comprehensive...no deductible. The glass installer replaced both and submitted a single bill. Insurance paid it. Check your insurance. Maybe lifting your coach the wrong way is in your future. Wink
