For those of us unable to attend, would attendees please post some photos of the event? I really enjoy seeing the people and coaches. It's also nice to be able to put faces with the names ob the GMCnet list for us newbies.

Just a handful of coaches here so far, but John Shotwell has been riding around with his camera taking pictures of the coaches as they come in. I'll see if he's planning on posting. Also, Dan Gregg and Chuck Boyd will be here and both usually post a mess of pictures. I'll try to post some as well.

Sorry about not putting any captions - we were parking arrivals all day and there wasn't time to get a lot of info. The big black SOB with the gray awning was Don Leslie's.

This is just a suggestion. It occurred to me that the seminars at these get
togethers are important enough that there should be some way to scan the
literature to make it available to all interested GMCers that don't or can't
get to come. After I attended the GMCWS at Auburn, California earlier this
year, I was approched by several Cascaders to share what I learned there.
There is no way to replace the interaction of Happy hour conversations and
bench racing sessions, but it might spark enough interest in some of the non
attendees to motivate them for the next rally. The pictures great, but being
there is too. Life is short, live it every day like it is your last one, it
just might be.

I'm speaking for myself here.
Your sentiment has been expressed before. There are many who share your
view. I think everyone on here understands what you are saying and getting
at.
Here is another perspective on the issue.
First, does the presenter want to get the information, notes and other
supporting documentation into a format to share openly? What if there is
some information shared verbally in person that the presenter wishes to
remain as such? Ultimately, I think, it's up to the presenter as to what
happens with the information. Once information is developed it is easily
copied and spread around. Those real particular about supporting a product
or method may not want the information being "out in the wild" where they no
longer have control.
Second, the organization where the presentation was held may have a policy
against making certain information widely available to anyone and everyone.
For instance, an organization may choose to maintain some form of control as
to how the information is disseminated and whether is is available to
members only. You see, an organization exists because it has value. If
access to information is wide open then, perhaps, the organization's value
becomes reduced.
Yes, it is seems that because a person can't get to a certain meeting
because of logistics, job, finances, health, etc. that he shouldn't be
penalized. However, it isn't that simple.
This is about intellectual property and respectful use of that which an
individual may have taken great time and energy to develop. Therefore, the
desires of the presenter come first. The desires of the sponsoring body
comes second. The desires of those of us in the trenches and bushes comes
somewhere after that. Does this seem reasonable?

Bryon, points well taken. I developed curriculum materials for presentation
to classes throughout the Oregon Corrections Education system when I was
still working. I know that some people take a proprietary interest in what
they have labored long to produce. I wasn't suggesting that there be a
requirement that such materials had to be shared, only that IF a presenter
wanted to share, that it be made available to wider audience than those who
attend a rally. I really wasn't trying to step on anyone's toes here. Emery
and I have corresponded back and forth on his in-tank fuel pump setup, he
had mentioned that he was putting together a seminar on it, and I am very
interested to see how it came out in final form.

IIRC the GMCMI policy is that if the presenter agrees the info he presents
is posted in the Members Section of the GMCMI website.

Gene, et al,
I agree that it's important to capture and distribute as much information as
possible from our seminars, as you can tell from the GMCES technical
section's entries from the days when I was chairman of the technical
committee.
BUT, sometimes it's just not practical to put the material into a
publishable format. For example, today I gave two presentations on dash air
conditioning. The first covered the Type 1 and 2 HVAC systems, with a
little information on the Type 3. For that I showed only a couple of
slides, but used the actual Type 1 & 2 boxes. What I said was really a 3D
reprise of what Zay Brand's "Separating Hot from Cold" booklet's been saying
in 2D since 1997. There is simply no substitute for being able to turn
those boxes front to rear, top to bottom, and side to side while describing
the air flow through them in different modes. The notes I wrote were purely
to organize my thoughts, were not used during the presentation, and would be
virtually meaningless to anyone else. So, if you see anything about that
hour or so, it will basically say "we saw it".
The other presentation extended the first into replacing the air flow
functions of the OEM systems with a completely new one of my own design.
For it, I did produce some slides, but for them to have any meaning, and
I"m not sure they had a lot even for the live audience, it was necessary for
me to utter detailed explanations of what they showed, why, and to
laser-point to specific areas of interest -- none of which can be
practically relayed through even GMCMHPhotos. A better planned set of
photos could have done better, but I never planned for this presentation so
didn't have more photos.
So, the bottom line, is COME ON OUT! Heck, even JimK made it without
breaking down!

wing' heals we can join you at the next rally, now that I can see what Doreen
and I are missing.
Um, ...I know I am a bit daft and 'slow of mind', ...but where is your newly
