Not national. Around here Omaha NE and across the river Council Bluffs IA its OK. In Kansas I've had them chuckle that I'd even ask.

I've heard that some Wal-Marts are prevented by local ordinances from allowing overnight parking.

I just came through Pendleton, OR on the way to a weekend camping in the Umatilla National Forest. Stopped at Pendleton Walmart and the lot was a zoo. This is Pendleton Roundup week, so there were tents and trailers and horse trailers and cowboys everywhere. No ordinance in effect here...

Coach ran perfectly, about 500 mi round trip, except for the lousy gas mileage that I have yet to address. Rained most of Sat & Sunday, but no leaks!!! Happy camper.

Hey George;

I think that almost every city has an ordinance so they can protect
the local campgrounds and RV parks. In our experience it's really been
a matter of enforcement, and very few of the WalMarts that we have
been too enforce the signs that say No RV or Truck Parking. I've only
been told to move on by one overly enthusiastic Security guy and that
was at the Vallejo, CA WalMart. Probably if I went inside and asked
the manager he would have said it was OK. We joke that it would really
be cheaper for us if we were to just stop at KOAs and pay the camping
fees due to the shopping that we do when we pull into a WallyWorld.
Anyway, just what we do.

Isn't that exactly why they allow overnight RV parking? If old Sam knew anything, it was to attract customers.

Kind of like the drug stores that always have the pharmacy counters in the back of the store - you'll find something to buy along the way! Or the giant warehouse clubs - do I really need a case of something that I use once in a year?
