When coming to DuQuoin, do not use your GPS to take you to the address given in the GMCMI newsletter. It may take you to a gate that is not open. Please use instead, the GPS coordinates given in the newsletter. They will take you directly to the Main entrance of the State Fair Grounds. Those coordinates are:
37.98460 N
89.23363 W

Please also be aware that the Main entrance gates are quite narrow, so as you pull up to the gate, square yourself up with the gate and watch both sides carefully as you pull through. Once inside the main gate, go straight east...(streight ahead) following the signage for about 3 blocks. Turn left on Main street and follow to the Registration/Parking area.

We are working hard to get ready for your arrival.
See ya all in a couple of days.

Thanks Larry and Lucy for taking this task. I know you will do a great job. Now, what about entering the "side" gates off 14? I go through that entrance most of the time.

As long as you can find your way to the registration table, it's OK with us. Others out there, don't try this, you could end up driving around a while to find registration, even find yourself in restricted areas and have to unhook a towd to turn around. The rest of you all...just come in the main gait off of HWY 51.

OH...and be patient please...it's our first time doing this.

Larry,

I thought the main entrance was on Main Street and 51. Main Street runs east
and west.

Is the registration area north or south of the grandstand?

WHAT? You might want to try that one again. Maybe after you've had your morning coffee.

Byron,

You are right, I just looked at the signs, Main St. does run east and west. It seems someone turned the street sign 90*...AAARRRRGGGG!!!. Entering the grounds from the west...headed east, follow signs to "EXPO st." and turn left.

Thanks for catching that.

Ok Larry, sorry about that. Hope I did not confuse anyone. Follow Larry's instructions. You cant miss the place, it is very big.
For some reason the main gate is narrow. Guess it was for horse and buggies.
