I will try this one more time. It deleted the entire body.
Now, fuel price is 2.49, yesterday, at Boomland, exit 10 on Mo. side of I-57. They also have a 12 buck a nite rv park should you need one, full hookups.
Watch for cops and hold speed to posted limit on Il. side.
Take exit 25, from left lane, onto 51 for best route to Du Quoin from the southwest. Divided 4 lanes through Carbondale and traffic flows fast.
See yall there.
Dan

No. It is now 65 mph on "rural" interstates. The only catch is it drops to 55 mph for ALL vehicles near some cities. Watch the signs.

Paul is correct, they raised the rv speed last year. I-57 is getting a lot of work on it, especially from the north. Make sure you observe those work speed limits. They have work going on right on the Il. side of the Ms. River Bridge. Limit gets down to 45 mph, but it is only for a short distance. Watch for those cops. In Mo, not a problem getting 5 mph over the posted 70 mph speed. As soon as you hit Il. The speed drops to 65 mph and the cops work the border hard. I have been known as a speed demon but not in Illinois. Also, the price of fuel jumps 20 cents as soon as you cross over, and more at a lot of places.

If you are traveling east on I-44, there is
a Wal-Mart or SAMs at the exit about a mile
east of Lindberg Road on the west end of
St Louis that had the best fuel prices in
the STL area. Went through there in both
directions in late August on a trip to
western NY state for my 55-year high school
class reunion (GMC pickup, not Money Pit).

Be real careful and watch the signs for truck speed limits. Illinois definition "rural" Interstates is quite fugal. At least in NE Illinois it is almost non-existent. It may be different in central and southern Illinois. I have not been there since they raised the speed limit for trucks and RVs.

I am not trying to make folks paranoid, well I guess I am. Just trying to save your money for the fuel and to buy parts from the vendors at the rally.
Ken, I emailed you our new fone number.

Cell, yes, all we have now. Free weekends and evenings. ATT is what we are on and all ATT cell phone calls to each other are free. Trying to figure someway to run a fax on it for my new buisness.

Unfortunately no. Time to work on the GMC is very limited. LL's IC is getting worse and I have spent more time on yard work and other tasks as a result. I expect we will not be on the road until a few months after I retire. Current planning for that is April 1 next year, assuming the economy holds steady.

I asked the question as I knew, in the past, that RV owners from out of IL would be unaware of the lower limit and get tickets when entering IL.
