POSTED PREVIOUSLY IN WRONG FORUM>>>>OOPS!

Someone on TEAM RUN GMC suggested that I spray the roof with that paint on bedliner application and protect the seams for future. They are adament that the process will work ,and says it will 1)add strength to ROOF 2)Reduce slippery surface when on roof 3)and solve any future leakage.

I take and respect with HIGH regard the opinions of the MASTERS here on this site and as always I will value and respect all opinions.

What do you guys think of doing this?

Thanks in advance as always,

Frank

This is my first GMC, but my Elandan is essentially the same roof construction. I would not do it. There are so few seams and protrusions that the use of Eternabond or something like it - although they tell me there's nothing like it - will give you a sealed roof without the hassle or weight of bedliner.

If it doesn't stop the leaks, and/or you don't like the looks, how will you
remove the mess it will make? I wouldn't consider it.

If you would spray it on the roof of your car, then maybe you could spray it on your GMC. I know what the spray in bed liner looks like in my pick up and I sure would not want it on the roof of my GMC.

I have just battled the tree sap on the GMC. This year they seem to be sapping ALL SUMMER LONG and the dirt gets in the clearish sap and turns black. I had to scrub it off with a brush to get the paint color to come through. I might mention I have a White Coach.

The bedliner, whatever color, will collect the dirt in the dimples and will be a real treat to try to get clean, figure a days work multiple times a year.

I like cool seal for RV roofs, even better if it cannot be seen, but the GMC is not an RV, it has the curved roof that is visable.

UNLESS YOUR PO drilled many many holes in the roof for whatever reason and you need to cover them, I would just worry about the two front and rear seams with a sealing agent.

The Bedliner will come free and will leak, making an excellant funnel effect for your cracks, seams and holes...

If you must cover holes and around the roof rack supports, KoolSeal would work, OUT OF SIGHT on top. But cool seal will get dark from dirt over time and needs a scrubbing with soap and water maybe once a year.

The benefit of KoolSeal in my SOB was it dropped the heat from the sun like a brick. Where the roof used to be hot to the touch was cool. It insulates sound and once I applied it, NEVER LEAKED FOR 15 years there after... It stands up very well to being walked on, mine did.

I just do not suggest applying it where it can be seen easily.

Just what I know
