We had a neighbor woman across the street who would regularly drive through the neighborhood looking for stuff that offended her. I referred to her as wicked witch Helen. She said she was going to run for city council to expand her reach. Thankfully, she moved to a snobby neighborhood 20 miles diagonally to the northwest side of Oklahoma City about six or eight months ago. I am positive the folks who had to work under her supervision at Tinker Air Force Base are singing the country song "Thank God and Greyhound She's Gone!"
I'm pretty sure she's the one who turned me in for my GMC in the driveway. I checked with code enforcement and the requirement was that the space between the street gutter and the "obstruction" had to be at least 11 feet, 6 inches. I was able to get my GMC close enough to the garage to get to 11 feet, 7 inches spacing!
Things at Rancho Cambodia have certainly changed since wife and I lived there (10300 South White Rock Road) from May '62 to Feb '63. This was a brand new development of duplexes just outside the main gate of Mather AFB where I was a student.

Jim,
The specs are a lot looser for the older engines. The newer engines have to
be pretty clean to pass.
Rich,
When I moved into Sacramento County I felt like there were a lot of rules
that I thought were absurd coming from Idaho. Rancho Cordova became a city
and most of the board of supervisors live in HOAs some of them gated. They
have changed zoning and done about all they could to make the rest of the
city more like an HOA. This spring the limited the concrete in our front
yards to 40% and imposed a 5-foot setback from side property line. I live
on a corner lot with a very little front yard. The last day before the
zoning package went into effect I poured a 5-foot wide concrete strip next
to my property line. I had set up to have a company come in and replace my
driveway with a wider driveway over to my property line. 2-days before I
poured he told me they could not make the date.
