Why not have him take one of those really nice, but rusted frame GMC's and toss it on a stretch 4x4 truck chassis.

Tell him to make some measurements before he decides to buy anything.
The Travco engine box was designed for a 360 with a torqueflite. When they went to the big block (first 413 then 440) it was a shoehorn job (maybe like some people shoving Cad 500s in GMC?)
A Cummins 5.9 is a LONG motor and quite tall. We had some serious packaging issues when that came along.
