Morning,

I drive the GMC year round. I have no problem with heat. I have a problem with cold.

How do people keep the cockpit area warm during driving around in sometimes freezing temperatures? This question especially relates to the 73.

Peer,

I bet you do.

When Mary was still working (not that she is not now, she just does not go anyplace), we often traveled in the cold. The curtain behind the driver helps a lot. Having a functional 195°F thermostat and a properly operating fan clutch all helped. With my 73-23 Glacier, it became well named when the fan clutch failed. The fan was enough to keep everything too cold.

During one cold excursion, I actually tried the old diesel trick with cardboard on front of the radiator, it sort of worked, but not being a diesel, it was too hard to balance.

Stay warm

Matt
