Hey Johnny, one of the many motorcycles I have owned over the years was a
BSA Gold Star 500 cc. What a miserable piece of hardware it was. Big old
single cylinder. You really had to have your wits about you when starting
that beast. If all was not correct, it would kick back and launch a rider
up over the handlebars. Didn't need much for a transmission, just row it
through the gears until you reached the top one, and leave it there.
Amazing torque, must have had all of 25 or 30 horsepower. Weak by today's
standards. 125's put out more power today. Easier to start, too. Memories,
of good times past.
