While on shore power at the house can you put alligator clips from the coach side battery of the isolator to the engine side battery to keep the engine battery charged?

Yes, you can install the jumper. Make the jumper very thin wire (18 or 16 gauge).

That is what I call a $1.00 combiner. The thin wire is to insure that in the unlikely case that one of the batteries were to short internally, the voltage and very high current from the other battery will burn the jumper wire in half rather the explode the bad battery.
