Irish Spring bar soap. Cut out the "top" (long dimension) and place throughout the vehicle.

Keeps the mice away; I can't vouch for larger critters. And, a somewhat pleasant smell.

We have different mice.
We found the chips of Irish Spring nibbled on. That was probably the same family of mice that shredded the dry sheet to make nesting material.

Shotguns really mess up the woodwork.
