I'll forward this to my son, Jim, but since he has coyotes and bobcats roaming around his little "ranchette" I'm not sure having a yard cat would be a good idea. They make sure that their dogs are only out by themselves for necessary body functions!
I have already forwarded a couple of other suggestions to him.

I have a skinny female cat. She kills most anything smaller than she is.
