If the line does not easily start threading, I remove the 4 carb mounting bolts. (I believe they are 1/2") It takes about 30 seconds. Then the carb can move around a bit with everything else still still connected and allow easy starting of the threads.

DO NOT OVER TIGHTEN THE CARB MOUNTING BOLTS when reinstalling or you will warp and destroy the carb.

undo the fitting without rounding the fitting
