Did you consider that 200 gallons will take a 40 foot 30,000 GVW diesel pusher with 4 slides 1600 to 2000 miles till they have to fill up
again? How many gallons and how many stops would you take to drive 2000 miles in your GMC?

John,
There in is typically some over looked points.
First: Tank range is immaterial. The fact that to cover 2K miles would require at least three fuel stops (full at departure and empty at arrival) simply does not matter. Even when we have been team driving that best day (that is a matter of opinion) was 1108 miles. We were both shot by then. So, the tank range just means that you have less reason to be conscious of fuel prices while underway.
Second: We have had internet onboard since 2008. We could search for fuel prices along the route. With that, Street Atlas (RIP) as a navigator and some other helpers, our travel could actually be amazingly effective.
Third: Many places these days, Diesel is about 20% more expensive than 87AON fuel. So, that DP coach at 8MPG is not all that good compared to my 9.2 that we can count on. (We have recorded flat land runs that were 10+.) My BIL (Sister has passed and he has a new DW) and anew diesel Wini View. He was all fired up about his 15.3 with is old one. I didn't have the heart to tell him that not counting his depreciation, that bottom right corner of my spreadsheet beat his. When you include depreciation - Katy bar the door.
Fourth: You know that ~40'DP? When they go looking for an EOD (End of Day) stop, they can't count on being able to pull into the car side of a highway rest area and sleep. They can try to pull in by the trucks and hope nobody needs to idle his engine or run the reefer all night. And, that there is room... Now that the economy is rolling again, there are more trucks on the road and they need to sleep. And, normal parking lots are a real big issue. No, I can't get into a parking structure, but I have never seen a level parking lot that I could not negotiate.
I'll stick with my GMC. If Mary hits the lottery, then, I may hire someone to work on it.
