Rick,

Correct, this email is confusing! Let's start with the front wheel bearing seal.

The front wheel bearing seal has two lips; one that contacts the CV joint shaft and a second that contacts the "face" of the CV
joint housing.

The lip that contacts the CV joint shaft keeps the grease in the bearings.

The lip that contacts the "face" of the CV joint keeps contamination out of the bearings.

The small flat tool that is on Gene's website is Dave Lenzi's tool to install the front wheel bearing seal. It locates the front
wheel bearing seal using the bearing cup as reference. Any other way of locating the seal can result in the part of the seal that
contacts the "face" of the CV joint too be to close to the "face" of the cv joint which will crush it and probably burn it out or
too far from the "face" and allow contamination in.

Note that they are identical.

I promised to post photos / drawings of the REAR wheel bearing tool I bought from Dave at the Elkhart GMCMI Convention, however, I
can't do it at the moment. I put it with a bunch of stuff I bought and it's at Scott Nutter's home and I won't see him until
sometime in November.

All good, but weren't we talking about the seals on the rear hubs?

Rick "and what does that tool look like?" Denney
