Cesar Carrasco wrote on Sun, 15 October 2017 12:52I just bought 73 glacier for a very low price. From what I can tell and
compared to my 73 sequoia it is all original. It started and ran strong
but I did notice that the distributor cap seems to be loose when I move it
with my hand, is this normal?
Cesar,
Welcome to the group, family, cult, asylum...
So, you now have two '73s?? Neat, are they recorded in the registry?
Do us the favor of not hijacking threads. It makes things very difficult for those that might choose to assist you. New topics are cheap. If you use the reply key in your mail client, your message can easily get stuck in the wrong thread. Some years back, this happened and I had a solution to the problem, but I did not see it until it was way too late to get him the help he needed. That is a problem on Sunday in New York City.
The distributor cap in held in place by spring loaded hooks. If it is not correctly seated, it will feel loose. It is keyed to only go on one way, but some of the aftermarket caps don't do that key very well. Some don't seat and others are loose.
If it is an unmolested '73, it might still have the points in the distributor. If it does, trade them out for a Pertronix 1181 - Any Version.
Now that you are here and have a coach, you are a member of a community that is amazing. Because these people like to help, and you are a e-mail user, you should try to include your real name (I see you are using that), some specifics about the coach (OK is 73, but 23 or 26?) and a geographic reference. These people like to help, and you have just acquired a couple of thousand brand new old friends. As this community so reminds me of the watermen of my world, I really like to welcome new owners here much as a new member of that community is welcomed. So,
May the Good Lord bless this coach and all those that set forth within her.
Welcome Cesar
