Shane,

From the thread about your air bag problem, it sounds as if your best
option is a total replacement. Unless something has changed in the past
couple of years, Zeb Jr., at Southland, will offer you his replacement air
bag system. You may choose that, but if you do, you'll probably be in the
small minority of owners. If you choose a single bag system, that from
Alex Ferrara is well thought of and apparently offers ride characteristics
very similar to the original air bags. Then there's the Sully Bag system,
which operates at lower pressure and offers, reportedly, as softer ride.
Your "best", and most expensive, option is the Quad Bag system from Applied
GMC (Jim K). Any of those should serve you well indefinitely.

I would not recommend repairing the "flapper" system -- there've simply
been too many people with too many problems with them. If nothing, else,
the fact that the mounting point on the bogie for the hinge was designed to
do nothing more than secure a flexible rubber&fabric attachment for the
lower center fender skirt.
