I made the mistake of putting a 15k btu AC in the rear bed area. Way too much AC for the small area. Cycles too much, it was meant for a larger area.
The original AC in the rear was a 11k btu unit(once again the engineers had it right!). The only AC units that are 11k or smaller are the Coleman mach 1 power saver at 11kbtu's, or the low profile Coleman polar cub at 9k btu.
My main concern is the noise level when the compressor kicks on. I would think the mach 1 would be the quietest being it has the standard vertical compressor. But the cub might be nice because the area I'm trying to cool is about 8 feet by 7 feet. And as low as the btu output on the cub goes, the compressor will stay on much longer. So more moisture removal and less compressor starts.
Does anyone have any personal experience with these units? Or forward a link to reviews that discusses this issue? Recommendations??
Thanks, Scott.
