Bob, I remove the filler neck pipe to avoid metal shavings entering the
fuel system. Others coat their cutting tools in heavy grease and trap them.
I drill a small hole, then use a tapered punch to enlarge it to tap drill
size. Gives a bit more meat to tap for the bung. One could also braze a nut
onto the filler neck OFF OF THE COACH. JWID.
