Bob,

I picked up a conduit clamp at home depot that
fit tightly around the fill pipe. I coated the
area between the clamp and the fill pipe where I
was drilling the hole with JB Weld. Drilled and
tapped the area. The clamp offered a much thicker
area to tap into.

I got the idea from Bruce Hislop ( aka RF Burns ) and I think he
posted photos on the Motorhome photo site.
