The picture is pretty good, but the interesting feature is still kind of hidden.
My guess, based on some experience, would be that it is a pressure tap from the fuel line. Some PO silver brazed a 1/4 SAE flare in there and then the pressure gauge and line was removed. Along the way the fitting got capped, but he didn't have a 1/4 SAE flare cap, he just used what he had.
I like the fact that the rubber line is starting to crack.
