John, it does a good job of that as well. I can't remember the brand of mine, but it's about 3/4" thick and does a good job of heat barrier too.
While driving down the interstate all day my floors are warm but never hot.
I also have 2 full layers of dynamat like material (Noico) with foil that helps with heat.

I drove to Indianapolis (5 hrs) with only the dynamat and the noise level was awful. Put in the MLV and now it sounds like a new car. I barely hear the engine or road noise unless the fan (afterburner) comes on.
