We just came from a very good NW Area FMCA rally. These are important events for our GMCs and for your pocketbook. I suggest you attend the one in your region to learn new stuff for yourself.

There is now a west coast facility for doing quality repaints for our GMC motorhomes. The owner was the paint manager for Monaco Motorhomes and knows well the sealing and repair requirements for the three different materials used in our coaches. Most of his employees worked for him at Monaco. Prices appear to be similar to what Jim B charges - $10,000 to $15,000 depending on how much body work is requires and how elaborate the design. Contact Ricki Mackin, Makin Street Customs and RV, Eugene, OR, 541-485-1991.

One of the RV parks in the Desert Hot Springs area near Palm Springs has recently been acquired by new owners who are very keen on RV rallies and who welcome GMCs. They are completely renovating the park and adding a new activities building big enough for even large GMC rallies. They said they just planted the 1600th Oleander bush and all new irrigation systems to provide separation between the spaces and green in the desert. They also said they would welcome vendors doing demonstrations and even reasonable service work during rallies. They are, offering 50% off for FMCA members bringing the daily rate down to around $25 with 50 amp service and perhaps lower for GMC rallies. Looks like a good new venue for those of you planning rallies in the SW. Contact Jim Anderson, General Manager, Catalina Spa and RV Resort, 760-329-4431.

Another reason to attend one of these FMCA regional rallies is we walked away with nearly three weeks of free RV resort nights in places we intend to go, $200 gift certificate from Blue Ox and a bunch of other stuff pertinent to our GMCs.

And, updated info on the FMCA Assist program.
