I'm not sure its any louder. My big thing is that the Honda is not worn out and is dependable. I can deal with a little noise but not the noise that happens when we stop for lunch and its 90 degrees and the AC won't work because the Onan is being fussy. Life is too short.

Personally, $1200 for a good running Honda that doesn't smoke strikes me as a good deal.
