You will find that all the small inverter gensets run at 3600 rpm. No easy way out. A well insulated genset compartment will keep the noise level down. Also, you really need to add a flexible mounting pad between the genset and the frame of the vehicle. If you open up one of the Honda small inverter gensets, you will notice typical Honda attention to detail, vibration isolation and noise reduction. Heathen Chinese sets skimp on these non-visible items.
Honda's water cooling system also adds to noise reduction.
Yes, I can hear it run, but with roof air running, you have competing noise levels.
I think that $1200 is a very fair price. Put load on it while running before you finalize the deal. A known good rebuild is about $2500 on the low end and $5000+ on the high end. I paid $5000 to have two rebuilt by Pinallas.
