They have nothing to do with the final situation. The ends of the Airspring are always in compression. All those big nuts are for is to make sure that the parts do stray.

Yes...I just assumed it would be more because of the critical nature of the nut. I read that in the manual and I just wanted to confirm. Your explanation makes me understand that the nut is not quite as critical as one would assume. Thank you.

In manual X7525, go to section 4, page 4-27. Paragraph - Air Bellows installation, subparagraph 4. The manual says50 to 60 ft/lbs. In the last 18 years or so I have never used a torque wrench because of the socket is difficult to source. I have always used a large combination wrench.

Both the X-7525 and the the 78 Supplement X-7725 are available for download. Only the X-7525 has any info on the air bag torque.
