I was thinking the link says it needs a gasket on both sides of the screen, or something like that.

AC is hopefully a tripped breaker (there is one on top of the Onan) or a blown bridge rectifier. If you need a bridge rectifier, the replacement has three of the pins twisted wrong and you need to take the socket apart and drill out the pin holes, put the plugs through the correct holes, attach them to the new rectifier, and then put the whole thing in place and put the screw back in it.

If the generator dies or gets shut down with the roof AC running, it will burn up the bridge rectifier.

They can be found online for a few bucks. Here is one that costs a bit, but will take more abuse than the original.
