Dan - cool project! I've thought of doing the same with an arduino and/or raspberry pi. Those microcontrollers are awesome little things and I believe can help keep our gmcs modern. I'm now landing toward assembling a megasquirt to monitor those functions, plus air/fuel on my quadrajet. It should allow expansion into fuel injection and timing control too. Only parts I've pulled together is a wide band O2, not yet installed.
