DBO wrote on Sat, 19 September 2015 20:44After years of GMC envy, I took the plunge and picked up Robert Kulig's GMC II in Wisconsin about three months ago and drove it home to Mobile, Alabama - a great 1400 mile drive. I wanted to start off by saying it never would have happened without the great support of this site and many of its members who assisted me. I thank you.
Robert and the previous PO's really took care of this coach and it shows. It's a 76 Transmode re-manufactured by Explorer in 1996. Its a beauty (at least I think so). It didn't have a lot of miles over the last 19 years - only 27,000 miles, so it apparently was stored for many of those years prior to Robert picking it up around 2009/10. He repaired, replaced and upgraded many things over the last 5 years and it's in excellent shape. He documented everything.
Of course, I have my ideas..... I picked up a PD9270 converter to replace the Powersource 75B that Explorer installed and will install it soon. I replaced the bed in the back with the original couches and table. I am converting the interior lighting to LED's. Tires will be coming soon. I want to upgrade the Howell EFI ECM to add EBL. Its a never ending project, but that's the fun of it. I'm sure I will need assistance from many of you.
Its really amazing to me the amount of information available for these coaches and the people willing to help. Its quite a community. I look forward to putting some miles on this baby.

Yes, it probably will be a never ending project. Glad you are enjoying it. It sounds like you are the kind of guy who SHOULD be a GMC owner. Welcome to the brotherhood/cult/asylum....
