Robin, this is a very common thing. Happens all the time. While in the hospital after my heart Dr. did my cath and stints he said he wanted me to have a cat scan cause he was worried about an upper aortic aneurism. (good thing as they found a lower aortic aneurism) The cat lab listed me as a hip fracture instead of an amputee. The scan showed voids in my left hip wing bone which is an indication of cancer. The Cancer Dr. came in and actually looked at me and said no cancer cause the bones were no longer weight bearing and was fat deposits and not holes. After reading this report my heart Dr. came in and had not noticed doing my cath and stints thru my right crotch that my left leg from the hip down was not there. That afternoon a nurse came in from the medical group and was concerned that I had lost 20lb the first day in the hospital. I tried to explain that I had not lost it, I had took it off and put it in the closet.
