As an architect that has designed buildings in Alberta for over 30 years (the GMC is the smallest renovated space i have done) I can tell you that spray foam insulation is by FAR the best way to get the best job done. The heat loss is mostly through air leakage around ill fitting structural members and insulation. The foam gets into all the nooks and crannies and seals tight against the structural members. Now the large single pane windows in the GMC is another matter.
