Though I am one that enjoys having the information available to me, the idea of having a panel with idiot lights doesn't sound that bad either.
With modern electronics, out of range readings could bring up an actual reading to alert the driver, but if everything is normal, leave it alone.
That way, a brain dead driver (me?) may not miss a problem if it's pointed out clearly on the display, and I can concentrate on the road (and Brooklyn Decker if she wants to ride along) and I can enjoy the scenery!
