I think it's pretty easy to look it over first and then just match the grooves in the replacement process working rear to front layer.
And yes you just weave them throught the fan blades as on any GM A/C equipt non electric fan longitudinal engine car or truck.
The tricky part is loostening all the compressor bolts where it hinges front and back and slides on top. The Alt ---loosten the pivot at the bottom and the top enough to slide all the way inboard. The PS has 3 to loosten if I remember ( It's been 3 years and it's not here to look at so I feel a bit dumb)
The words of caution are----disconnect the NEG batt terminal on the engine batt first for safety and in case you slip or drop a tool and it touches the Alt terminal you won't smoke the wiring, and be carefull when you pry around the A6 compressor not to
put any pressure on the line sets and break or knick them. A wooden stick or the 'turnbuckle' type tensioner tool is prefered. After a days drive you may have to retension once as the belts seat.
