I read with interest the downloaded copy of Motorhome Marketplace from January 1996 - almost exactly 20 years ago. I was struck by several things:

1) the prices for GMC motorhomes for sale have changed very little. The seemingly nice ones are listed at $15000 to $30000. The difference from then to now is now we have a number of sub-$5000 abandoned yard queens being offered along side the seemingly nice ones still listed at $15000 to $30000.

2) many of the same specialty GMC vendors were listed except for our two Jims - neither JimB or JimK were in evidence - and no Manny.

3) Howell EFI as offered then in an ad just as it is today.

4) one specialty GMC vendor, Winterfeldt, offered drivetrain warrantees that included them coming to you in the event of an issue. 5yr, 50K on engines, 3yr 30k on transmissions, torque converters and water pumps that they installed. Great sounding service but since this is before my GMC time I don’t know how it worked out in practice.

5) one big difference is the value of the dollar has been so wildly devalued by government overspending and borrowing that our dollar today is only worth $.63 compared to a dollar in 1996.
