Seriously, interior layout is a lot of compromises.
I like the walking room in the Revcon, the rear bath is pretty spacious.
The side beds come out to make a full size on the right with a very narrow walkway or you can pull the left side out and make one big bed all the way across. You'd climb out of bed into the bathroom or the galley. And there is a bunk above it on the right.
If I had a GMC i would like having the rear bed remain configured as a bed and the table remain a table all the time. And the baby would sleep on the left lower bunk.
But the tiny wet bath would probably annoy me.
We have not done enough with it to have strong opinions about what we like.
In any case, it's still way better than your plastic fantastics- SO THERE !!!!

Sure, I can get new windows. FOR A THOUSAND DOLLARS EACH !!
I wish I could marry the best features of both.
Just for fun I considered putting the GMC bogie's under the Revcon, by using that whole section of frame. You could smell the burning flesh when I posed that question on the revcon board.

FMC's are prettier. Flxible's are even gorgeous (if you squint and turn your
head sideways).
Hey, guys are putting little diesels in the rear of the FMC's just to get
rid of the Dodge engine.
Now, the NewAire is something else. Too bad they pulled the plug. And then
there's Winnebago's attempt with the 2000.
Vixen has the market cornered on ugly.

I think the Vixen's are cool looking. It was actually a Vixen that gave me the "hey how about a cool vintage motorhome instead of a trailer" bug. I saw one in traffic.
I started doing research, thinking it was FWD and found the GMC, and then remembered the EM-50 and that was it for me.
After I got my GMC I saw a vixen and got a look inside. everything was fiberglass, like a Casita trailer, and that really turned me off. Felt like a cheap boat.
I, too, thought the wet bath would be a problem, but we had one when I was a kid in a cabover camper, and it was actually fine for showering. Like Dan says, it is easy to squeegee clean, and we do this everyday at home on the big glass shower door anyway.
Most Dry bath coaches I have seen have water damage around the shower, and the rooms are too small to lean forward, and, well, you know.

Wow! Thanks for posting that Discoverer link.
Back in the day I was HOT about the Travco (a/k/a/Dodge motorhome), the GMC, and I couldn't remember the Discover (still doesn't sound that familiar). The Discoverer reminded me of a diesel locomotive.
Thankfully, only the GMC "stuck".

Why not have him take one of those really nice, but rusted frame GMC's and toss it on a stretch 4x4 truck chassis.
Yuck - what a frightful thought. It must be nearly Halloween...

> Man, That IS ugly! I recently made the mistake of showing my 22yo son a Travco on Craig's list. Ever since, he has been lusting after a Travco that he can put Dodge 4WD running gear into, including a Cummins Turbo-Diesel! He says he will be able to pull my GMC out of the dirt at the sand dunes. Ha!
Carl,
Tell him to make some measurements before he decides to buy anything.
The Travco engine box was designed for a 360 with a torqueflite. When they went to the big block (first 413 then 440) it was a shoehorn job (maybe like some people shoving Cad 500s in GMC?)
A Cummins 5.9 is a LONG motor and quite tall. We had some serious packaging issues when that came along.

Dan,
There are a couple of Travco websites that have some nice ones on them. I actually think they are (look) cool. That's where Mark got the idea of putting the 4WD running gear in one. Some guy actually did that!
Now, the Cummins is a whole different story. Knowing my son, he would figure out a way to shoehorn one in if he was not limited in a very essential part of the whole program...Money! Let's see... a body lift...split radiators...???
