My current toad ('85 F 150) overnight developed no compression and a dead miss. Currently in the process of removing the head for a potential rebuild. One last manifold bolt, currently soaking in Magic Elixer, I'll get the head off in the morning. It's an engine swap before I bought the truck, this engine is a Heavy duty 300CID inline six, as noted by the rotators on the exhaust valves, which also indicates the exhaust valves are soduim filled. I consider this the best engine Ford ever built (along with the the 240 CID version) sand one of the top five engines ever built in this country.
Anyway, why would it go from working correctly overnight to low compression and dead miss on one of the 6? My theory is the exhaust valve was slowly burning until the sodium got exposed, then total failure. I'll find out tomorrow. Keep watching this space...
