I have not done this in years but the suggested procedure for forum users was to stay subscribed and set the email list server into to "no-mail status for your user id there.
Do the following and the emails to you should stop:
send an email to:
gmclist-request@list.gmcnet.org
In the Subject line or message body include the command:
set delivery off
Doing it this way should allow your forum postings to be sent to the email server and on out to all email users.
IF you do not do it this way your forum postings will still get sent the to the email server but will be bounced and forwarded to an admin. He will have to fix this manually causing more work for the admin. He has enough to do already.
I hope they have not changed things over there and this still works. Try it.

I wish I knew this before! It was the amount of alerts/emails I was getting from my phone this morning that prompted me to unsubscribe.
