Sad to report that Bob passed away on Saturday, 01/21/2023 due (maybe in part) to multiple strokes.

Another GMC friend I never met but had correspondence with, helping me solve problems. R.I.P. Bob.

So sad to hear. He was one of the good guys. I spent quite a bit of time with Bob at various rallies (he hardly never brought his coach). He reworked my screen door and we arranged to meet at the Cincinnati IKEA for drop off and pickup. I called him several times over the years for advice when I broke down or had other issues while on the road with my coach.

If you didn't know, prior to being involved in GMC motorhomes, Bob Burkitt was a champion drag racer. He had a 1962 Dodge Station Wagon named "Behemoth". Among his many wins included winning Stock Eliminator at both the U. S. Nationals in Indy and the World Finals in Dallas in 1969.

Just like so many, I never met him, but wish I had. He looks to be a knowledgeable, colorful and wonderful person.

God bless him and may he rest in peace.

John, I talked to Bob's friend Dan and did not get any additional information other than he is taking care of Toby (his dog). He has my information and if I hear any more I will post it.

I have a little more information on Bob. He had a stroke on December 30 and was in the hospital in Cincinnati until Jan 21 where he died. I have not located his sister's phone number yet. When I get it, I will call her in California. I met her only once and I had her phone number but that was many years ago.

The quintessential GMCer and a really terrific guy. I had the immense pleasure of meeting him. He bought me dinner during one of my cross country GMC deliveries in 2016. What a pleasure I'll never forget. ... Until we meet again my friend. 😥
