I almost hate to post this, but with the included warning, it may save someone some grief or worse. Let me start out with the bad part so nobody runs out of patience and doesn’t read enough to get the message.

Our A/C belt jumped out of the sheave because, I believe, the bearing for the compressor clutch has failed. With the belt out of the sheave, it had enough extra slack so it could whip around and do some harm to the fuel line. In the stock TZE build, the fuel pump is on the front right of the engine. There is about a one foot rubber line that connects the steel line that has come around the frame to point up to the fuel pump. The A/C belt sawed into that line enough to make it leak. In stock configuration this is no big issue as that line is at a negative pressure and the clearance to the belt should be adequate.

Here comes the big issue. As we have recently had a problem with vapor lock, I have added a pump down by the tank selector valve. This pump can put pressure in that line when it is running. I am not big on having gasoline (even crapohol) sprayed around the hot engine. I have purchased and will install fire sleeve on this fuel line. I may not have a belt on the A/C anytime real soon, but having a unprotected pressurize line in the front of the engine space is something can change.

What caused all this is the second part of the story.

I bought a 5' length of 3/4ID fire sleeve on Amazon for ~20$us. If you don't find it I will send you a link.

Just search "fire sleeve" on Google and you will find all kinds of it. It is used in aviation on just about all flexible gas and pressurized oil lines.
