See page 14-3 of the parts book item #20. For a 77' 26'.

I was replacing the pins and bushings in the rear suspension and discovered that the hole where the front swing arm pin pushes in (the frame side) is badly elongated. Does anyone have a good one? Any one have suggestions on how to repair, or have had to repair one of these? I could also use one of the nuts that secures the pin (where the grease fitting is). This is the center section that looks like a Turtle shell with the swing arms removed. I posted a photo on "gmcmhphotos.com" for those interested. Obviously this is a real coach stopper.

Road Warrior, Please post your name, We have nothing to hide, everyone in the GMC community is genuine and most all are willing to help. It's much easier to talk to a person with a real name.

The bracket can be fill welded and machined back to a perfect circle. We line bore heavy equipment all the time. BUT! I would simply get one from a donor coach. Note the alignment procedures when re-installing the swing arm and bracket. If the shims are good save them. While the bracket is off I would look at treating the frame with a good zinc coating before re=installing the bracket, I use Master Coat.

Also, check into the modified grease fittings.

This is at least a start. It's really not difficult at all.

Take care and good luck,
Tom K.

Tom, Last fall Karl in Cary NC got a bogie arm from Barry Owen to use on our mockup for the GMC reaction arm brake system. I found this on the GMC net forum ( Barry and Carolyn Owen > 364 Dixon St. > Lexington, NC 27292 > 336-250-0966 ) . I'm ALMOST positive he will have bogie boxes as well.
Cheers.....Albert

Albert,

Thank you.

I am sure that could help "Road Warrior" (Name Unknown at this time). I will be much easier then welding and line boring.

Take care,
Tom K.
