I was checking the steel vacuum line between the intake manifold and the transmission modulator. I can blow compressed air through the line from the modulator end, but not from the intake end. The compressed air will only flow from the modulator to the intake manifold, but not from the intake manifold to the modulator. Shouldn’t the compressed air flow in both directions?

Thank you, the advice received is much appreciated.

It should flow air in both directions. There is a restriction at the top end designed to slow down vacuum fluctuations. You may want to start there to see if there is a blockage at that point acting like a check valve.

Hugh,

And it has a pinched area to restrict the flow.... That can get plugged up with any piece of micro crud. BTDT
Try again, but this time with carburetor cleaner. Hopefully it will wash what ever it is out of there.
Don't expect to see it come out even if you capture everything in clean rags.
If you reverse the flow a couple of time it will probably soon go both ways.
