Guys,

I don't hear the clutch fan roaring. Even with the other clutch fan I heard no roar. I did insulate the cock pit area well. I tested the engine today using the Flow Kooler thermostat and here is what I found.

The engine ran great (as it has been)
WUD engine temp ---------- 196°
Harbor freight IR ------------ 201° (Thermostat housing)
Dash Gauge -------------------1st 1/4 (OEM Sender)
Stewart Warner Gauge ------235°
( Digi -----------------------------Above 200° )
* The Digi can be adjusted and has no relevance at this time.

I am thinking the engine is running fine and the Stewart Warner Gauge is not accurate.

ALSO: I am running 3 temp sensors on one Stewart Warner gauge via a switch to each sensor. Engine temp/Trans temp/Final Drive temp. It may be causing an electrical problem by how I have it wired.

The radiator is recording temp at the 180° to 195° range at the top coming out of the engine and 176° at the bottom going back to the engine.

I hope this is enough info for an expert (someone who is more experienced then I with this machine) to look at and confirm that the engine appears to be fine and it is a guage problem?

Problem solved!!!

I am only posting this very embarrassing event so that other can learn from a very stupid person. I will preface this buy saying this has been a 2 year build. During that time My wife had cancer and we went through a lot of chemo and radiation. My father had lymphoma and my mother had cervical cancer. All this while the corona virus was going around. My wife slept allot and I used the RV build to help occupy my time.

That being said the build was often stop and go and some details from 2 years ago I forgot. I was an Army pilot and have been a pilot for 35 years and counting. I have gone down in a helicopter 3 times and I have developed a deep desire to know what is going on with my engine. SO now I have a Digi panel, a WUD, OEM dash and a whole set of Stewart Warner Gauges.

I ran out of room for more gauges so I used one temperature gauge to monitor 3 items. Engine Oil, Trans Oil and Final Drive Oil. I forgot that I put the sender on the oil line coming from the engine and thought it was monitoring engine temp. It's not, it's monitoring engine oil temp.

There lies all my problems. In fact I have not had a problem. The one gauge which I thought might be out is actually doing what I set it up to do. I just forgot what I did. I need to label all my gauges.

Most importantly, Thank you guys for all your help and I apologize for taking up your time. The coach is actually running great. I hope this helps others, but mostly it keeps me humble.

Sounds like the Flowkooler 195 is doing it’s job. Remember, the first Go/No go test for the clutch is roar on high idle at startup after sitting overnight, showing the clutch has sufficient silicone fluid intact. The other time you will hear it is after highway speeds on a hot day when you slow for the exit ramp, you will hear fan speed increase, even with engine RPM dropping. I see how you like to keep an eye on things, but I have the opposite approach. Factory gauges only. Since engine oil and trans oil are equiped with liquid to liquid coolers the coolant temp tends to give a good indication of what is going on. So far no problems. Happy GMCing.

Tom,
I wondered where you installed the sensor for the Stewart Warner Gauge so that's why I asked in my previous post. The OEM gauge occupies one hole near the thermostat. The EFI temp sensor occupies the hole previously used for the TVS temperature vacuum switch. So that left me wondering what kind of sensor the Stewart Warner Gauge used.

It all makes perfect sense now.
