Good evening Gentleman,

When flushing the condenser and evaporator, do I need to remove an expansion valve? I flushed the complete system, Installed a new accumulator/dryer and drained the Sandin air compressor, but could not find such a valve .

If need be, I would like to replace the expansion valve before I install the new PAG oil and refrigerant.

What are thoughts on if there was any harm done to the existing expansion valve or if I need to get a new one?

Thanks in advance,
Tom K.

The "expansion valve" is inside the box where the Evaporator is located. That is also where the "thermostatic switch" is located that cycles the compressor. You have to take the front cover off to access the valve. The valve is after the "filter/dryer aka Dehydrator" which to me means any crap in the system would be filtered before it hit the expansion valve. I think its optional to replace it, but then again I am not a professional HVAC guy.

Thank you Richard,

I just left it and recharge the system. I think I am too high on the Duracool. Low side pressure is at 29. I may just bleed off some.

Take care,
Tom K.

I hope you are taking those pressure readings at 1500 engine RPM.
