Good day gentlemen,

I have installed the Howell GMC Fuel injection kit which is supplied by applied GMC. The fuel pump is excessively loud and I am looking at replacing it with a dual pump set up to add redundancy to the fuel supply system.

Is there a recommendation for a dual fuel pump setup which is more quiet than the inline pump supplied in the kit.

Again, thanks in advance,
Tom K.

Rubber Mounts? I mounted my inline pumps (and filters) with these..... pretty quiet.

Some folks mount their pumps upright on a hinged plate that flips 180 deg down and outwards for maintenance.

Maybe consider putting the pumps in the tanks, eliminate the fuel selection valve and control the pumps off of the existing fuel selection switch on the dash. Puts the pumps in the tanks pushing the fuel instead of sucking it, and is quiet and gives you a built in back-up pump incase one or the other stops working. Just something to think about.

I used Airtex E8094 which they specify for GM TBI applications (12-17PSI).

I have a Howell system, but the Holley TB came with the smaller 60pph injectors (circa 2009) so I was running about 17.5PSI to get the flow rate closer to the required 80pph flow. I eventually changed to a Rochester TB with 80pph injectors so I'm back to running 13 PSI. If you have the smaller injectors and running higher pressure, then maybe a different pump rated for higher pressures might be better.

The E8094 are quieter than the original Howell pump, but you can hear them without the engine running which my be helpful in troubleshooting. They also have a built-in check valve so external check valves are not needed for dual pumps.

I've been running duals now for 3 years. Here are some photos of the setup:

Bill, I do have it mounted in rubber. It's not a vibration just a loud scream from the pump.

Larry, I am trying to keep the pumps mounted outside of tank for ease of maintenance.

Bruce, I like your set up, I bought the Howell Kit from Applied last year I believe it uses the holly throttle body but am not sure of the injector size. I guess I will have to make a call.

Thanks guys and take care,
Tom K.

What maintenance? All new cars have in-tank pumps. Gas keeps the pumps cool, and it is easier to push gas than it is to draw it out of the tank, so lower chances of vapor lock. Pumps outside of tank are exposed to the elements so greater chance of failure or needing maintenance of some kind. Two pumps, one for each tank, so they are a back-up for each other should one fail. Failure rate for in tank pumping is very low. AND in-tank pumps are very quiet. Down side is that it is a more difficult and time consuming install than pumps outside of the tank but once installed, is potentially a forever thing. I've had in tank pumps for over 10yrs now with no issues. JWIT

The only downside I see for in - pump tanks is the need to either cut a pair of holes in the floor, or drop the tank(s) when they do need maintenance.
